West Yellowstone 2007 SuperTour Report
On Friday, we had the skating sprint races. Overnight air temperatures hit a low of -10F. It was still very cold during the qualifiers which were held at 10am. Temperatures at 1:30 when the heats started were warmer, but the wax solutions stayed the same. Team Rossignol, CXC, NENSA, and the Fischer/Craft team all went with JetStream Moly as their final layer. I know this sounds crazy in such cold weather, but as we have been saying for years, this is an awesome cold weather fluorocarbon, especially when rotocorked in. We went with a couple of layers of LF Blue to harden the bases, then a layer of HF Blue brushed out well followed by the JetStream Moly rotocorked in, brushed out with a nylon polishing brush, and polished with a thermo pad. Fine structure was obviously the structure call for the day.
This glide wax was so good that Bryan Fish and Chris Hall, very meticulous waxers, didn't even glide test for the classic ski race on Saturday. Conditions were pretty similar as the low hit -2F overnight. The JetStream Moly was the obvious choice of the day. The Toko tip for kick was, for the early starters, green binder followed by layers of Carbon Gripwax White finally covered by a light layer of Mint. For later starters, we went with green binder followed by layers of Carbon Gripwax Blue covered by a light layer of White. There was a ton of dirt in the track, but it didn't affect our waxing choices.
